According to the report of the Forestry Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam's export value of timber and wood products has reached $7.95 billion in the first half of 2024.
It is up 21.2% compared to the same period of 2023, and representing 52.3% of the plan set for the year.

The US and China were the main importers. The US remained the largest export market, accounting for 55% of the total, with total purchasing value up to $4.38 billion. And China at the second place withh purchasing value nearly $1.06 billion.
Localities are also implementing initiatives to switch small-scale forests into larger-scale ones, promoting sustainable forest management, and obtaining forest certification.
Currently, the country has 495,000 ha of forests granted certification of sustainable management. Vietnam targets to grow 245,000 ha of forest for 2024.
