1st World Forestry Conference in China Secures $5.6 Billion Contracts

China has become the fastest-growing and largest contributor to forest resources globally.

Last week on Saturday, 25 November, The First World Forestry Industry Conference was held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and saw the signing of 30 contracts totaling over 40 billion yuan (about 5.6 billion US dollars).

The event attracted over 5,000 participants including representatives from well-known domestic and international companies in forest cultivation, papermaking, and forestry industry machinery. The theme of the conference, "Green Forest Industry, Bright Cooperation Future," aims to establish a professional platform for communication and collaboration within the forestry sector.

This event was held by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the regional government of Guangxi. The event that includes a combination of conferences, exhibitions and forums also attracted experts, academicians, and global buyers.

The projects signed was covering various forestry products, including bamboo and wood flooring, intelligent manufacturing of furniture, fragrances & essences, biomass energy, forest carbon sequestration, and forestry finance.

In 2022, China's total output value of the forestry industry reached 9.07 trillion yuan, and its imports and exports of forestry products exceeded 190 billion US dollars. It makes China as the world's leading country in forestry product production, trade, and consumption.
